MHamid El Ghizlane is a village of Morocco present in the Zagora region. It is involved in one of the two places from where the Sahara desert starts; the other one is Merzouga. M’Hamid el Ghizlan is 98 km away from Zagora, receives fewer tourists as compared to Merzouga. It involves a drive of about 5 hours from Ouarzazate and 7 to 8 hours from Marrakech.

Mhamid El Ghizlane is present next to the significant oasis; it intersects its way to the vast desert of Sahara. The area of this place was significant as Sidi Khalil where the trade caravans assembled before going to other destinations and Timbuktu.
Mhamid El Ghizlane is also called Bounou; once a developing village made up of a mixture of local Hassani tributes, Local Drawa, and local Ait Atta Berbers.

SEE LIFE OF LOCAL INHABITANTS

The villages of Ezouaya, Oulad Mhaya, and Oulad Youssef, as compared to others, are distributed all along the oasis. The inhabitants can go anywhere in the village on foot and motorbikes are renowned too. For the transportation of products and goods, there is a diversity of donkey carts that are in use nowadays.


HAVE A FEEL OF ENVIRONMENT

The environment here is both fragile as well as harsh. You are encouraged to check the scarcity of water in the village. The taps went dry by the early noon on numerous days in the past times. It creates a severe disappointment to the inhabitants. You can prefer swimming pools present in some hotels if you want to enjoy swimming.

You can explore the desert while going on foot or also prefer trekking on camels. The expeditions to the high dunes are also famous. The Camel trekking provides a fantastic experience. Before the sunrise, you can jump up to the dunes to watch the incredible views of the sun that is rising around the desert.


PAY A VISIT TO THE MOSQUE

In the town, there is a mosque present, but it is not open for the non-Muslims as compared to the other mosques in Morocco. A Kasbah is situated approximately two kilometers away out of the village on the road. The black Africans occupied the Kasbah who came here millions of years ago from Mali.
You can reach MHamid El Ghizlane by car or a bus. Your trip will be memorable when you pass through the open desert, regional center of Zagora, and small villages all around.
